About Reggie

Attention #yoursauga – stop stealing my photos and passing it off as your own!  Specifically, the photo used in my Dine and Chill post!

Foreword (November 30, 2014):  My stats for Reggie The Food Critic have been booming! Thanks to everyone who has visited my blog and supported it one way or other.  I started this about three years ago (already)!  just as a hobby and I needed a place to vent about food I’ve eaten and restaurants I’ve visited.  Its still just a hobby but I don’t eat out as much anymore.  I still go out maybe 3 times a month or so (whereas I used to go out almost every day).  I guess its healthier for my body this way, and also healthier for my wallet!  The other day I ate at Lone Star, but I don’t think its worth a review.  I’m glad I’ve been able to help some of you in finding places to eat in Mississauga!

Reggie

Hi!  My name is Reggie (not Raggie).  I am originally from Scarborough, Ontario, Canada, now living in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada for over 11 years.

I am the ultimate foodie.  Food is on my mind 24/7.  I can’t help but constantly think of what my next meal would be.  Shopping is no longer a passion for me.  Food is!

You would think I was an unfortunate, starving individual…  When I have my plate of food in front of me, I must devour it before it gets cold, and before I can move on to something else.

With my obsession for food, you would think I was a two hundred pound tank.  In reality, I am just a petite, five foot tall Asian girl who is constantly dreaming, breathing, living for food.  Even now I am thinking of lobster rolls and clam chowder….

I basically eat out every day of the week.  I buy my lunch every day, and probably eat dinner out a minimum of twice a week. The reasons I eat out so much are because I’m not a great cook, I’m too tired to cook all the time, and lastly, sometimes its more economical to eat out then to buy the grocery items and then spend an hour to prepare and use the electricity at home.

I decided to start this blog to support my food fetish… I’ve eaten at alot of different places.  I’ve had great experiences at some places and horrible experiences at others.  I want to share my experiences with others who enjoy food and eating out as much as I do.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog. I’m not an experienced writer, but I hope you enjoy my reviews anyway.  I’d love to hear your feedback and experiences as well!

Hey you should try this new Hakka restaurant in Mississauga. It’s called chili chicken house. It’s in the same plaza as bubble republic (central pkwy and burnhamthorpe) Another good place is Galito’s chicken…it’s in the same plaza as t&t

    Hi Reggie

Just stumbled on your reviews, have you tried Pita & Grill on 5030 Maingate, very delicious food.

    • I heard that it was better than the one on Confederation and Dundas.

I’m not in that area very much but next time I am, I be sure to stop in and order a shawarma – yum!

  4. Hi Reggie, just read your review of Momiji Japanese Restaurant & Sushi Bar. Based on your review it looked like a mix reaction to this franchised restaurant.
We hope you will come back to the Clarkson Village and check out some of our family owned and long standing restaurants soon.
If you like pub style food no question The Clarkson Pump & Patio is a great choice. Of course Clarkson Fish & Chips has been acclaimed at serving an excellent English style fish. If you like something fast but tasty Top Grill Shawarma is worth a visit. How about Thai & Vietnamese Cuisine; then come check out the Spoon & Fork? La Felicita is family owned and operated for 50yrs and serve authentic italian cuisine in a more casual setting. We also have a number of fine dining restaurants that serve some unique and mouth watering delicacies.
We hope to see you soon and look forward in reading up on our other fabulous eateries in the Clarkson Village in Mississauga. Our website list all wonderful places you can dine. http://www.clarksonbia.com

    • I love the Clarkson area! In fact a few years ago, we used to eat at a couple of places in that area on a regular basis. There are a lot of great restaurants there and since the weather has been getting warmer, we definitely will be heading out that way more often.

Nice blog, needs more shawarma reviews since it’s Mississauga lol. I’d recommend a newish one called Isis Mediterreanean Cuisine on Queen Street/Brittania because it’s a good dine-in place instead of a fast food place like other shawarma restaurants. Really good platters and very unique in terms of the ingredients/herbs/spices which other places don’t use since the owner is an actual chef. Also try Pita Nutso/Osmow’s in Streetsville but they’re closer to normal shawarma places, nothing unique thought they taste great.

King Kebab on Matheson or Aimco/Dixie…only Turkish restaurant I’ve been to and it’s not much different than some of the other middle eastern type but the dishes are really good. Not a huge menu when I went cos it’s new.

I like Ming Room but Asian Wok n Roll (the Millcreek location) and Royal Jasmine (Aimco/Dixie) are my two favourite hakka places, slightly better than Chilli Chicken House. Royal Jasmine has a good deal if you’re eating in a family of 4-6, $57 for 6 actual dishes with good proportions plus appetizers plus a little desert.

And Adiamo’s Pasta in Streetsville for an inexpensive Italian restaurant.

    • Hi There!

Thanks very much for your comment, I really appreciate it.

I have never really been in the Cambridge area before, but maybe I will visit in the spring and summer. (My daughter may be headed out towards that way for school).

What I’m going to do is since alot of us in the GTA are always on the lookout for true bbq places (a real rarity in our neck of the woods), I’m going to start a thread on bbq houses in GTA and area and incude your establishment on the list.

Thanks again for mentioning your restaurant. Looking forward to trying it in the near future.

    Hey Reggie,

I stumbled on your site when I was looking for a good shwarma place. Your pictures definitely convinced me but I ended up going to Osmows in Streetsville. Its a really tight restaurant but their shwarma’s are insanely loaded. There is also Pita nutso right down the street (Not a fan of the owner). Check out their site and reviews http://www.mrosmow.com/

If you have some time and are in the Clarkson area, do drop by my friends Italian restaurant. The name of the restaurant is Solstice and the food is amazing. Vince and his brothers have the best hospitality. Give them a try if you are in the neighbourhood. Check them out http://http://www.solsticerestaurant.ca/

RD’s BBQ located in Brampton, Ontario. Southern BBQ and more, you have to try the pulled pork sandwiches, catfish poboy, smoked jerk chicken wings, sweet potato fries, coleslaw.

My favourites are the fried chicken + waffles, gumbo, jambalaya (they dont have them everyday just specials), and the mammoth poutine (fresh cut fries, with cheese curds, gravy, pulled pork or beef brisket and bbq sauce)
