I attempted to make an avocado milkshake like the one in this photo (we had this at Golden Turtle). This was my method…
- Using my Magic Bullet, I crushed 6 ice cubes.
- Then I scooped out the meat of one ripe avocado and added it to the Magic Bullet.
- I added 1/4 cup of sweetened condensed milk.
- Blend everything together and voila!
The result – I found it a little sweet. So next time I will reduce the condensed milk, or add more ice, or add regular milk. Or maybe, eliminate the condensed milk altogether and just use ice and perhaps honey?
Also, I found the Magic Bullet wasn’t very powerful in crushing the ice. So I would recommend a regular blender for this purpose.
Any tips on making a better milkshake is much appreciated!
I love avocado smoothies (milk shakes). The way I make it is buy using a plain Danon non-fat yogurt. You could use the vanilla flavored one if you like. I prefer the plain because it only has three or four ingredients.
This is how I make it:
1/2 cup of non-fat plain yogurt
1/2 of organic orange juice
1 ripe avocado – scoop out the meat – no skin or seed
7 or 8 large FROZEN strawberries
A big hand full of FROZEN blueberries
Blend in a blender until you have a consistent funnel and can see the blades of the blender.
Notice I don’t use ice! That is why it is very important that the berries are frozen. They act as your ice!
This will usually make two TALL glasses of smoothie.
Enjoy!
1/2 CUP of organic orange juice
That sounds really good and healthy! I’m going to try it one day. Thanks for the recipe!
You should try the durian. I know – but give it a try!
I may have tried it before… Or was it the jackfruit that I tried…
